My Welsummer are breed for egg colour first and show quality second.
They are fed Laucke chick, and Showbird on fresh grass, sprouts and minimal chemicals as possible. A few treats of kitchen scraps and lots of care. The cockerel's are not only very colourful, but very friendly and docile. The hens lay well especially the first 2-3 years. I have had good fertility rates with my flock. I now have UK line birds that lay the dark egg and working on building up the flock, I will be releasing a limited number per year.
